FAQs about my Blog

Who is the "SHE" in She Has Cute Shoes?

Well that would be me actually. I am the she The she is me. :)

Why the blog name? How did it come about ?

Without wanting to come across like I crave or even seek compliments I do hear a fair bit “Oooh cute shoes Vikki” or “I love your shoes!” or “Those are really cute. Where did you get those?”. And I do have the “Dress from the shoes up philosophy” so it’s only natural that my shoes get noticed a lot. *smile* So the name “She Has Cute Shoes” seem to fit.
So why blog about shoes?

Apparently according to Blogger I've been at this since 2005....yes....and no you will most likely not  find those blogs....but I was inspired muchly by the blogs of a few close friends who wrote what they were passionate about as a way to share their lives, faith and random musings with anyone who happened to read their blog.  I started with a vision of sharing stories of where my shoes and I travelled and places we had walked together but in the process rediscovered a love of creative writing.

Do you really believe that your shoes can tell everyone about your memories? What are the Shoe Stories about? Are they true?

Lol. It all started with writing an account of Mary from Beyondjelly.com 's wedding in New York, Pittsburgh from the perspective of my sky high Red Tony Bianco's ( Big Red's ) and I was going to just occasionally write about what I was doing in my life from the viewpoint of my shoes - my Shoe Adventures. But then I stumbled upon The Red Dress club and their writing meme called Red Writing Hood. The prompt I came to that week was titled Happy Endings. So I wrote a piece from the viewpoint of the shoes I wore to my 21st birthday that had travelled from wardrobe to wardrobe with me for the past 15 years although never worn again. Their story is here. When I sat down to write it on that Friday night, the words just poured out of me and 2 hours later I had uploaded it onto the site. The lovely comments spurred me on and whenever I get the chance I write more of them. My current favourite shoe story that I shared on Write On Edge ( the new name & website for The Red Dress Club ) is A Pink Invisible Bruise. That one does not involve shoes though. ;)

Oh, yes. They are true. ;)

Just how many shoes do you have?

I have about perhaps about 12 or so high heels at the moment, about 10 pairs of Converse Chucks, a dozen or so thongs...yes flip flops for you Northern-ers - lol - a few winter boots and a selection of summer sandals and ballet flats. I am no Imelda Marcos or Carrie Bradshaw ;)

Designer or Payless?

I don't have any high end Designers - to be honest as much as I adore shoes I just can't bring myself to pay more than $150 on a pair of shoes. And even then it's a rare, rare day that I do it. Maybe one day I'll fall in love with a pair of vintage Louboutin's or Manolo Blahnik's and pay what they are worth but for now I will pay for shoes I can wear and feel good about wearing out and about in my normal, yet fun life. :)

Where do your shoes live? Did you take advice from your first Top Five?

I recently inherited a three shelf retro wooden/glass cabinet that I have an almost matching pair already for, from my late Grandmother. It now lives in the lounge room with my most favourite heels and other special memory shoes. Check it out on the photos on my Facebook page here. You could also like the page while you are there too ;)

I've read something on Twitter about #shoefairy. What is that?

Occasionally someone will ask me for shoe advice. A couple of times Twitter peeps have sent me photos of outfits and asked for opinions on their shoes. The first time I jokingly called myself the #shoefairy and it made me giggle so I hashtag it when I get asked for advice. I am by no means a fashionista - remember I am a Learning Difficulties teacher who lives in Suburbia ! - but I do have a disturbingly accurate eye for colour and tone matching. It's true! I have the test to prove it!

Current favourite shoe trend?

Colour block shoes. Although I do predict that I will be looking back on photos much like I do as myself as a 1980's teenager and shuddering somewhat. Although I really don't care! Colour bay-bee!

Most disturbing shoe trend?

I really do not like that cloven hoof look. See here. Ugh.
